AS/400 Error Message "Page Overflow" warning

AS/400 Error Message "Page Overflow" warning.

Details

On the AS/400 the default Page Overflow setting is 66 lines per page with an overflow line of 60.  When a spool file attempts to print on line 61, the AS/400 system will respond with an internal page overflow error.  The format being sent to the printer will still print.

There are a couple ways to fix this.

1) You can use the OVRPRTF command which allows you to change the overflow line using the OVRFLW keyword.  Change overflow line to 66.

2) You can create a printer file using CRTPRTF where you can set the default overflow line to 66. Then you simply write your labels to this printer file.

Often, OS/400 printer files, whether they are system-supplied or created using the Create Printer File (or CRTPRTF) command, are set up with the following attributes:

    Printer device type  . . . . . . . . . :   *SCS
    Page size:
      Length . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . :   66
      Width  . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . :   132
      Measurement method . . . . . . . . . :   *ROWCOL
    Lines per inch . . . . . . . . . . . . :   6
    Characters per inch  . . . . . . . . . :   10
    Overflow line number . . . . . . . . . :   60
    Print quality  . . . . . . . . . . . . :   *STD
    Font:
      Identifier . . . . . . . . . . . . . :   *CPI
      Point size . . . . . . . . . . . . . :   *NONE
    Page rotation  . . . . . . . . . . . . :   *AUTO

Because the printer is ultimately controlling the line spacing, you can set the Page Size and Overflow line to what ever the system will handle to avoid the AS400 error.
