Pax4 Ribbon Low Early Warning

Zebra Print Engines are capable of early warnings notifications when the printer is low on ribbon in two different ways, through the Early Warning function or the Ribbon Low mode. (Pax 4 firmware V60.15.2Z or higher is required).  To activate the early warning for ribbon and media, the EARLY WARNING MEDIA must first be enabled. Enabling the "EARLY WARNING MEDIA" when the printer is set to thermal transfer mode, then enables early warnings for ribbon. The Zebra Print Engines are also capable of warning for ribbon low, without tracking media. This is referred to as RIBBON LOW MODE. Enabling EARLY WARNING MEDIA overrides the RIBBON LOW MODE. The  "RIBBON LENGTH" and "RIBBON REPLACED?" menus should be displayed whenever the EARLY WARNING is activated. The other ribbon low menus "RIBBON LOW MODE" and "RIBBON LOW OUTPUT" are always shown.

If EARLY WARNING MEDIA is enabled, the RIBBON LOW MODE is not functional. However, EARLY WARNING MEDIA monitors both media and ribbon based on EARLY WARNING MEDIA settings. The settings for ribbon low mode are still available and saved, so that if EARLY WARNING MEDIA is disabled in the future, the RIBBON LOW MODE settings will take effect.

When the Ribbon Low feature is set to any of the lengths, output signal (Pin 9) on the applicator port is functional. When the amount of ribbon on the supply spindle reaches the specific length, the ribbon warning is displayed on the LCD display, a signal is asserted to the applicator based on the ribbon low output and if the alert function is enabled, an alert is also sent.
